EAP1 (Upper Intermediate)
- IELTS 4.5 (writing 4.5, no band under 4.0) or
- TOEFL iBTR 32 (writing 12, reading 2, listening 2, speaking 11) or
- PTE-Academic 30 (writing 30 with no communicative skill below 24) or
- Upper-Intermediate level in the official Hawthorn-Melbourne Placement Test

English for Academic Purposes is designed to develop students’ writing, reading, and study skills. The main aims of the subject are therefore to develop your skills in the following areas:
- interpreting information;
- expressing ideas;
- negotiating discussion.
At completion of this course, students should gain the following generic skills:
- the ability to critically examine and analyze a variety of texts;
- competence in conveying ideas clearly and fluently in both written and spoken form;
- the ability to collaborate effectively in group learning activities; and
- the ability to synthesize information, including paraphrasing.
